It is one of the most complicated parts of a mechanical watch. The anchor is made of brass or steel. It has a double role: on the one hand to transmit the force from the gears to the pendulum, in order to maintain the oscillation of the latter, on the other hand and prevents the uncontrolled triggering of the armed mechanism.
