The idea of using the tuning fork as a resonator for clocks was applied by the French watchmaker Louis Breguet (1804-1884). Breguet came from a family with a watchmaking tradition of Swiss origin. He perfected the idea and made a rocker with the movement of two electromagnets powered by electric batteries.
